All About Pocket Knives

I have seen a few Queen folders (including some lockblades) from the 1980s and 90s ( uncertain) that have birds etched on the blades and names like "Sparrowhawk" and "Osprey." The ones I have seen have wood handle scales, some with nickle silver bolsters, some without. Also a fixed blade #95 with a falcon of some sort on the blade - looks like pakkawood or similar staqbilized woiode. I am interested in any documentation of when they were made and what others were in this series. Love to see a list. One soon to be in my possession is a sparrowhawk with an '83 tang stamp, walnut or cocoboloo scfales and silver bolsters.

I am starting to post photos. First is the "Sparrowhawk" I just bought on Ebay. I now notice blade is badly grouund and etching is very weak. ( Mistakes will help make me a more discerning buyer...) It says "Sparrowhawk" 1200 SS U.S.A. .Wood looks like a very dark pakkawood or maybe cocobolo?


The second knife is a #95( I think) and has a clear etched image of a falcon.
Hopefully posting pics will elicit a response. I would like more info on these knives and information on when produced and if there are others in this series?

Here are more images of two more "bird" knives.

The first is a very large lockblade produced in 1998 (date stamped on pile side of tang.) The handle scales are heavily varnished or coatedand seem more like oak or some stablized wood. The Ebay seller indicated that this knife is an "Osprey." Paid $38. I have no other documentation.

Second is a small fixed blade, marked #85 on the end of the box. It is almnost identical with the #95 in the above message, with the same image of a falcon in a reduced size, consistent with the small knife. The small arched tang stamp is from 1991-1996 if I interpret the Queen Collector tang stamp guide correctly. This seems like stabilized pakkawood type scales. This knife cost me $27.50 at a show.

It might seem like I am talking to myself, but I consider these three messages essentially as one, showing the four knives of this type in my collection. As indicated above, I am interested in what were additional knives in this series and if there is any more information on them.

UPDATE.

Bird knives is a MISNOMER, probably why people have had a hard time responding to this topic.
Mr. Fred Fisher has sent me some material trhat helps greatly to clarify:

1, The little "sparrowhawk" is part of a different series of Hawk-themed knives Queen made.They were all lockblade folders, with nickel silver bolsters. Several of theses were two-blade knives with both locking. (Somehat like Camillus' series in the 1980s). I am not sure these names are all correct or which had two lockingblades, but the series included:
pigeon hawk
sparrowhawk
Duck Hawk
NightHawk
Broadwing hawk.

2.The other three knives shown in the earlier post were part of a specially marked RAWHIDE series offered in at least 1999. According to the Queen 1999 catalog, page 12, these knives had "QS14 blade steel" (which might be an early QUEEN name for 420 HC steel, which I am told has a 14 % chrome content). The handles are staminawood "... the look and texture of fine wood with the strength of high impact plastic."

The three Rawhide knives shown above are:
The small fixed blade is called Model #85 "game bird" 6 1/4" overall
larger fixed blade is called model #95 "big game" 9 1/2" Overall
The large folder is called Model #8450 "Paul Revere Lock" 5" closed

There are nine knives in this series, including Models #4225 drop point lockback, #8445 minuteman lock, #82 Hunter, #4190 skinner, #4185 sabre, #4180 drop point. (None of these are shown above)

Some of these knives have blade etches that look more like game animals and not birds (copy of catalog page I have is a bit vague for my eyes). Some of the etches - like the ones I called bird knives above, look identical to some of the etches used in the hawk lockback series.

i have the broadwing hawk which has the double locking blades. i posted a pic of it in the topic "show your queens". i also have the sparrowhawk and a few of the rawhide series, including the large paul revere.
