Last year I tryed to find jfarmers mailman. To find out where he was finding all of his new knives.
Now I see you are very friendly with him and just bought a knife from jfarmer's AAPK s Store.(His first sale?)
jfarmer has not been showing many knives lately.
Now do I have to find you mailman (girl) to find out where you find all of these at one time???????

It has to be JFarmers fault, he started getting all those beauty's day after day until I couldn't stand it any longer and had a "Knifeous Breakdown" and sold my wife's car for more knives..

To the best of my knowledge the abalone is the real deal..

It looks like real abalone to me also, or whole pieces in other words. Laminated abalone shell is real also, they just took small pieces and laminated them together to create a piece that is usable on a knife.

Look out JFarmer if I was you. Cuz MRS. Sunburst lives close to gators and wild hogs. She even buys knives for her man. She might know how to use one too.
Now she has no car.

Those are beautiful Sunburst. You're a lucky man to own them.

At the time sunburst's knives were made, the only decent abalone I could find was the laminate. It is real shell, but bigger pieces are becoming rare and prohibitive, so the suppliers laminate layers of it to produce bigger handles.
Of the three "revival" runs of HJs made to date, those two prototypes (third model) are the ONLY ones produced, so, unlike Case Classics, which seem to "spawn" prototypes every week, these are the only ones there will ever be for the first three models. The first model (the teardrop) had seven one-of-a-kind handled ones, the abalone and coral are two of them!
Bill Howard, now of Great Eastern, made the Case Classic prototypes, and from what I gather, there now exist hundreds more than were ever made; IMAGINE THAT!!!!!

Breathtaking. Between these and others of yours I've seen, you are the undisputed king of S&M harness jacks, I think.

Edited: Hi Charlie -- I'd heard that you commissioned some S&M Harness Jacks, in candy stripe celluloid and Rogers bone I believe. Were you involved in others as well?

As far as I know, I am responsible for all Harness Jacks in the last 10 years. For my first design I asked Clarence Risner to partner with me to try and get the price down, but the next two I did solo. There have only been three patterns. I'm off to work, but tonight I'll post examples of all three.

Every time I read a new post on this thread,I stop and look at that Tiger Coral,Those are some sweet handles!!!

As promised, here are samples of the three Harness Jack "Revival Productions" The first, HJ1, is a teardrop, with a Cooper style punch, patented in 1905.
The second, HJ2, is a regular swell end jack, with a Mayer style piercing or boring tool, patented 1908. This knife is a copy, as close as possible, from a Schatt & Morgan 1911 catalog.
The third, HJ3, is an equal end with fancy bolsters. The punch is S&M's interpretation of Seymour Alvord's punch of 1906. IMO it is the best working design of a pocket knife punch. His family owned Empire Knife Co.
