Bader BIII

I picked up a slightly used Bader belt grinder today.
It has three different grinding attachments included. Flat Platten, 8" contact wheel, and small arm wheel as well as a 2.5" comtact wheel. It also has a hollow grinding attachment with it, that I will need to learn how to use.
Plus lots of knife making supplies and an arm load of belts. In the supplies was some awsome wood for handles.
The guy that I got it from had decided a couple of years ago that he would become a knife maker. He started one knife and never finished it. Since then the grinder has been used to sharpen mower blades and knick nack stuff.
I can't wait to get it set up and running

nice snag Jeff! Lets see some of the woods. I plan to get a 2x72 someday, I'll get to it eventually

Congratulations Jeff, you'll love it. Here is mine with a small wheel attachment on it. The attachments swap out very quickly. You'll probably still need belts, seems as if some steels need a fresh belt for every blade you grind. Feel free to call if you have any questions.

Muskrat man I just bought a set of plans for a knife grinder 2x72. If your interested get on ebay and do a search under belt grinder,and look for custom knife belt grinder/sander plans by Mack. Getting ready to start on mine.

I've seen those plans on there RLDEN, please keep us posted on how it turns out. Check out this grinder, I would love to have one of these out in the shed

Here is a stock picture of the hollow grinding attachment. It is made by Reba's Enterprises, in Huntsville AL.

It looks like you got a good deal. I want to get one some day, but I have not seen any used ones.
You will have to show us what you can do with it.

I do know a grinder with a DC controller will help you out, immensely. Otherwise you will be changing wheels to change your belt speed. That's an important consideration when looking at grinders. With a DC controller I can use the same wheels and change my speed from 1 % to 100% with the twist of a knob. The extra money is worth it. The cheapest place I found was Pop's, then only if you send a cashiers check will you get his posted price.
