All About Pocket Knives

Cooling it here on a Sunday afternoon (on and off rain) so I went digging in my knife locker to see what I had forgotten (haven't found a knife yet that I had forgotten about). I decided to take some "family shots" of my Buck knives. Here are my 300 series pocketknives, three by Camillus (303, 321, 301), one by Schrade (a 1966 era 301) and a modern 309 Whittler made by Buck in their plant.

Here are my deer skinners (well the 55 doesn't really qualify, maybe as a rabbit skinner??) We have a 102, 105, 55, 110, and a 317.

Nice Dogg - think I like grouping shots - lots of knives of a similar design make for a neat looking presentation - going to try that again with a few more of my brands. OH

Dogg -- The 055 is a very nice carry. A couple of years ago, one of my best buddys gave me one for Christmas. I snapped the tip off the blade and Buck replaced the blade (for $10). I quit carrying it because it was a gift and I didn't want to screw it up again, not because it was inadequate in any way.

Dogg, mine is the nicest, small lockback I own (have a few Bucklites - 421? and a Schrade 3OT) and some others, - the Buck 55 is a much higher class knife. That said, I simply prefer a slipjoint for EDC use (hunting use I use fixed blade drop points) so I rarely carry a LB and cannot tell you much about using it as a EDC. OH

I too prefer a slippy for EDC ie 303, but for hunting it's a lockback,just got a 503 for the watchpocket @work but I wish I got a 55 Heres how I group em for hunting BUT afta your story about the 113 my 119 might not see as much time a field.

Dogg, I had a NIB Buck 119 at one time, kept it stored for maybe ten years, still in the box. When my old ARNG CSM retired about five years ago I pulled it out and gave it to him - he was thinking about taking up hunting and joining me on some hunts. At any rate I have been wanting another 119, found this one in a New Bern NC pawn shop today - used, made in 1997, but in quite nice shape, still has the factory edge with only a few light scratches on the blade (too light to see in the picture). OH

Thanks Dogg. I have lots of 100 series to eventually add; 103, 120, 121, & 124 that I can think of off hand. I saw your new Christmas 121 in the other post - very nice! The 103 is at the top of my current list (looking for an older one of course), but I grab what I find in pawn shops, gun shops, antique shops, etc., if the price and condition are right. OH
