Hi Guys, can anyone tell me more about this model? I have only the one pic sent me by a friend and can't seem to find anything on this knife?

OK, I have some info - it is the Buck Taclite model 886 in wooden scales - introduced in mid 2003 and seems to have been discontinued about end of 2004. Retail at that stage was $55 - now it seems to be selling for around $65 - if you can find it. Due to the short run and time lapse it looks to be getting pretty scarce. There was a G10 handled version prior to this, as well as an 885 - a larger knife.

Smoke, thanks for coming back and posting historical information on your Buck knife find - I just learned something. I haven't warmed up to tactical knives yet (might not ever ::dang:: ) and only own one that was presented to me while in the Army. I went to a gun and knife show Saturday; there were hundreds of tactical knives for sale, dozens of China-made slipjoints and maybe a dozen old, USA and German made slipjoints of dubious condition - obviously tactical is popular. My lack of interest has caused me to be uniformed on the many, many variations of tactical knives and brands - to the point of ignorance - guess I better start learning, eh! OH

Colonel, you need to get yourself a Kershaw Leek. It probably won't make a convert out of you but I'll almost guarantee you won't feel like you've wasted your money. Or handle one the next time you see one displayed. I have a feeling it will give you a serious case of the wants.

I'm here to tell ya, that's good advice right there. ::nod::
