August 2012 AAPK Knife Giveaway

Hi Everyone :) ,

This month, we have another great knife donation from our good friend Joshua (Jethro Bodine) Finley.

It's a really sweet looking Parker Edwards Stockman with Edwards' Damascus & stag handle slabs. It measures 3 7/8" closed. I really don't know a lot about these Parker Edwards knives (maybe someone can fill us in a bit). I think they are the predecessors to Bear MGC made mid 80s ..ish?

Great big thanks to Josh! ::tu::

Entry instructions are under the pictures.

Nice looking knife, Thanks for the chance. I think that the knives were made, for a while, in the Jacksonville, AL factory that now houses Bear & Sons. If I not wrong the name Parker refers to Jim Parker, one of the outstanding people in the knife indutry, who has owned part or all of many knife companies.

Your right on for the most part let me tell you what I know from the OPG of collector knives 15th ed.

In 1984,Parker Cutlery contracted with Fain Edwards Ironworks to produce Damascus steel for knives.
The Parker Edwards corporation was formed in 1985.They also made hunting and pocket knives out of 440c but I have never saw one.
In 1986 Parker"Jim Parker"became the sole owner of the company.
Blades already stamped with the Parker Edwards stamp were used some in the next two years to use up old stock.
Bear&Son" Ken Griffey "are now the owners of the factory.
Jim Parker owned a lot of different knife companies over the years including Case in 1990s.I may be wrong but I think he is the one that is responsible for the Case Classic Knives.

I am sorry I haven't been back on here to thank Joshua (Jethro Bodine) Finley for donating this great knife. I have a collection of knives, but none like this. Thanks Bryan for contacting me for address information. I haven't had the opportunity to get online in the last two weeks, but it makes me sad to see you guys don't want me to have this knife because of this being my first time on AAPK's forums as a poster. I never received a knife. Did you guys decide I didn't deserve it because it was my first post?

I copied and pasted this from the thread "Next"

I think that you are misunderstanding a little. It's certainly not that anyone wants you to not win the knife, it's just that in too many instances, the winner makes one post and that is to say "hey, I won", never to be heard from again and never having been heard from before. Don't be sad, enjoy the knife, join in on the conversations, post your questions, answer those questions that you can. In short, come be one of us. Contribute what and when you can. We're a good group of good people and would welcome your comments and your contributions.

I am sure glad I didn't win this giveaway since I was a new person (and a girl too) I probably wouldn't have gotten that prize.

I would not have known to "thank" someone for the prize at least not until I got it. Every site and every giveaway is different and EVERY one needs to understand that. This forum isn't the easiest to navigate either when you are new to it.
My husband and son's are all knife collectors which is why I joined and entered the giveaway but this sounds like a site that basically wants to be for exclusive members and that's fine but it should be said on the giveaway page. I was going to tell them about this site (if they don't already know about it) but I am not so sure now.

I am a blogger and enter and sponsor giveaway on my site all the time and after reading some of the post on here I am just glad I didn't win and I promise I will not enter anymore.

You guys should not make someone feel bad ::td:: because they won and it was their first time here, it was just luck.

I hope he has gotten his knife that he won per the giveaway rules and I hope you didn't run him off over something as trivial as being new.

Welcome to AAPK. If you get a moment, please drop by the Member Introductions forum and tell us a little bit about yourself. It's at http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... m.php?f=20

Of course AAPK is "exclusive" as are ALL other forums. I don't know of any forum where you can post without joining and getting a screen name and that, in and of it's self, makes forums "exclusive" by nature. Membership at AAPK is 100% FREE and that is not 100% true of membership at all forums.

There was NO reason to delete my post........did you do that gino?

If you did may I suggest that you don't have a calm enough demeanor to moderate here.

........and if you must know I had a family issue that kept me from the site for several weeks since
you asked "where was I".........

I deleted all 3 responses made to my post today because after giving it some thought and having a discussion with a member who's opinion I value greatly, I felt I should not rehash this issue at this time.

I infact was not talking to you in my response Trevor and I am really very sorry you feel that way about me, I am not perfect and make a mistake here and there but I really try to do my best here and protect the interests of the members. If I made you angry by deleting your response to my post I apoligize. ;)
