Question about the new Colonel Coon

I keep hearing that Colonel Coon pocket knives are going to be made again and that they will be released soon. Does anybody know anything about them? Who is making them? I have heard that they will be made here in the USA. Doesn't Case own the Colonel Coon name?

They were originaly made by Adrian Harris for 10 years and then Case bought out the name and rights...I have not heard that rumor of Col Coon knives making a comeback, I only hope it is in the USA and made with the same quality of the originals.
Turkey Creek Tom and Yerout are the next best thing to experts on Col Coon in the forum in my humble opinion...Maybe they will chime in..

Are the liners milled also? I see that they are on the back, but I mean the divider.

Sunburst can you tree that coon a bit more to show the mill work more?

OK,
I'm feeling persnickity tonight, so I'm going to say...I don't believe the liner is milled...as that is done by machine. That work appears to have been done by hand...so it's much more time consuming.
OK, it's nitpicking...but I feel better now.
That is a beauty...no matter.

Thanks for the info. tank. SMKW has a relationship with Queen so hopefully they will be building them. If it turns out that way, I will need some of those coons. Of course, they also have a relationship with Bear & Son Cutlery so it could go that way too.

upnorth thats whats i'm taking it as. all that legal stuff escapes me. it would be great if smkw did pair up with queen on them, proly lead to my bankruptcy though.

As far as my personel feeling I hope they never build another Colonel Coon, If they are waiting on me to buy one they are already broke, even Tenn Knife Works didn't make all the coons and that has never set well with me ! but its all about the money

yerout, I wasn't aware that Tennessee Knife Works didn't make all of the original Coons. Who else made some of them. I understand what you mean about someone else making the new Coons. I would still like to have some of the new ones if they are quality made knives.

I'm pretty sure I read that Colonial, Camillus, Schrade and maybe others, made knives, or at least the components, for Colonel Coon. However, the finished product sure was a high quality knife...IMO.

Bill you are right on the money as always on the parts makers that produced parts for the knives, I dont know for sure who made what parts but if I get to see Mr. H again I will ask the question.

And I join yerout - A Colonel Coon made other than by Tennessee Knife Works was not a true Coon. Now if they make again get the fellows who worked for Adrian Harris in Columbia, Tennessee to make them...I don't like knives contracted out and made by who knows who or what country or company. If Queen makes a Case classic stamp on it made by Queen for Case etc.
