PA Knives

PA, I've got a barlow thats stamped EAGLE
PHILA. Only main blade is stamped. Any idea of vintage ect?? Thanks.......Ken
Oh yeah wooden handles with bomb shield. Will get ya pic if ya want.

The Eagle Co. bought seconds from some of the periods top makers. They typically ground the name off and put Eagle PHila in its place. Sometimes the grinding was done poorly and one can make out the name of the original maker. These are all from around 1920 and up. They make a great collectable. Some people try to pass them off as the original makers but clearly they were leftovers sold to Eagle. Send me a pic, would love to see what you have there. Thanks

Yep, to the right of the stamp I can make out the letter B. Will post a pic in day or two. Thanx PA

No doubt this is an older knife. I have looked quickly at my copy of Goins but didn't find anything that matched up tang stamp wise with the "B" It will require further research. If anyone has a suggestion please chime in. It may not be a "B" either so consider that when looking. Nice knife and a perfect example of what I am talking about as far as the history of this company. Thank you for posting it.
