Clasic Case is right on the money. I always wondered the same until I read David Anthony's Book "Tidioute Brand pocket knives" Also, the word Tidioute is Iroquois(Seneca) Indian, meaning protrusion of land which lies along the Allengheny river, PA. BH

I think it may be easier for us Canadians to say Tidioute.
It's sort of like how we say out and about(oot and aboot).::sotb::
