My first fixed blade re-handle. Used some Cherry Burl scales that I thought were ruined. (the bath tub overflowed, leaked onto my workbench downstairs) These scales were warped bad, but I was able to semi plane them, and get them pinned. Finished off with tung oil to bring out the purty stuff.

It looks pretty good for salvage scales!
Did you glue the handles too or just pin them?

Just pinned them, didn't know gluing was an option.

What I usually do is glue on one side, and drill the holes; then I glue on the second side & drill those holes.
Then I will add the pins.

The advantage of gluing, IMHO, besides securing the handle better is that it prevents moisture (water, blood, etc.) from getting behind the scales and causing rust on the tang or rot in the handle material.

I usually do both, glue and pin, but that's just my preference. It is probably more important with kitchen knives to prevent food particles from getting between the scales and the tang, which can be a sanitation issue.
