I have just inherited a Durham Duplex razor w/ 2 blades, can they be sharpened with a stone or do I buy new ones, if available?

I doubt those can be sharpened very easily. Those were meant to use replaceable blades.

I have no idea where you'd get a new blade for one. I'm sure there are some out there somewhere but I'v no idea as to where to start looking.

Those things are kind of a cross between a straight and safety razor.

Workin' in the trades, I've seen carpet installers use 'em in their knives for carpet. They like 'em 'cause they're sharper than a utility knife blade. Try a carpet wholesale outlet.

I managed a cutlery store in the 1980s and early 1990s, for about 10 years. I saw similar razors in the catalogs of some of the German companies like Dovo. IIRC, they were called hair shapers. They were used for a certain type of razor cut on ladies hair.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think that's what it is.

My mother used to cut hair back in the sixties. I remember she used a razor just like that to cut ladies hair. There are tons of those razors still around.

Thanks to all for the feedback I was trying to figure out how to shave with it! Maybe I'll just trim my sideburns and mustache with it
