All About Pocket Knives

I am looking for a main blade, punch and back-spring for a Camillus Utility Engineer's knife. This is a WWII era knife, it did not have a bail, otherwise looks like an army issue. If someone has a parts knife with bad handles I'd like to work something out.

i have two of these knives...bad scales...look like then went to war and back...both have bails...?

the army knife has a punch ...the other knife..identical but for the shield, has a clip instead of the punch...also has a spey for the main blade.
both are cami's.

so i play with the knife you sent...nice bone on that cami...
somehow i get it into my brain you wanted a clip blade to replace the punch...
{don't ask how..it just happens}

so...i just happen to have a camillus clip that sure looks like it would work...i mount the piece...snug the knife together....
lucky for me i know i screw things royally...years of building engines has taught me one has to assemble the thing around three or for times to get it all right...

so i get the knife together...should i pin it now? main blade snaps, the can opener snick...the screwdriver blade...snip...
lets try the clip....poof...clip blade dives into the case...SNAP!!!!!
wow...and it is gone...huh?
the kick on the clip blade is not tall enough...now the clip is hidden inside the case...snug as a bug...

lol...good thing i hadn't pinned the thing together yet...
time to mount the punch blade...

Sounds like my adventures putting a knife back together, not so easy. Hows it going, all fixed

not pinned yet...it is sitting there...together..but i am uncomfortable with the fit of the pieces...lots of light through the spring area...old springs don't ly down flat...so when things don't go crrectly, rather than force the parts...i am sitting back to catch my breath...

take a deep breath....wait for the right parts to come along...you won't be happy how it looks with spaces between the springs....maybe you could just use one spring and leave out a couple of the tools... I'm thinking just a blade and a screwdriver with those nice bone handles... nice little EDC

Jeez Thanks Gringo, I sure got a surprise in the mail today. A full on stock, good working order engineer's knife And an old cami camper to clean up!!! Cool rock too, native to your area I'm sure.
This thread isn't going to end anytime soon...incoming from Oregon!

that rock is a tastie little piece of old turquoise from jerome...billion dollar copper camp from 1879 til 1952...
hard to find anymore...little pieces if ya pay attention.

hey, looking good. the TL-29 looks like it has wood handles, I thought they were black composite. Maybe you made some new ones? Great job with your pins.

black composite? is that what that stuff was?
i replaced the plastic with some ironwood i had lying about...i think i have become reactive to the dust...even with long sleeves an mask...

the pins holding the scales, and filling in the bail hole are nickle silver...the spring an bolster are brass.
i did use sterling the first time around...but found it to be too soft to function..boy did it look good...

want them back now?

Holy Moly OMG what-a-knife! A re-handled TL-29 showed up on my doorstep today.. it's super super nice. now, how am I my going to keep up?
I'll post a picture soon as I can. Thank You Donald. what a craftsman, what a guy! If I could match that I'd be....takin a while.

a big smile is all you need to keep up...

polish that ironwood with a soft cloth...i used bees wax on the wood...it has a tendency to cloud up when not in use...
