old catalogs

I've got several old cutlery catalogs in my collection. I was wondering if there would be any interest in someone too scan or photograph the pages, and start a new section in this website for a library of sorts. Kind of like a reference section at the library for all of us to use. I would be willing to let someone copy all my old catalogs, for this purpose, and some other collectors would probably have a lot that they might copy too. This could be a awesome reference tool for a lot of us. Just dreaming, but maybe some others might be interested. knife-nut.

8) knife-nut; It's not up to me but I think that is a wonderful idea!

I'm up for it ::tu:: I would be willing to organize and display the pages on this site.

Does anybody know how the copyright laws work with these catalogs? I assume the content within is owned by the manufacturers. Not sure about defunct companys (trademark owner probably?). ::shrug::

I would be willing to seek permission if necessary.

Copyright laws for literature can be for 100 years, but don't quote me as I was told this but do not have a definite answer. ::shrug:: (catalogs may be the expiration date, I don't know). This is why Microsoft's Word spell check uses a very old dictionary, they do not have to pay royalties.

Bryan, would you like or me to send you some in the mail, or do you need to check the copyright first?

Good Evening knife-nut,

Let me check into the coppyright issues first and I'll get back with you. Can you email or PM the names of the manufacturers or retailers on the catalogs you have?

Thanks a bunch!
