All About Pocket Knives

I own two of the last generation of Kabar pocketknives (made in NY after 1996 if I have my facts straight). Are these considered collectible or are they merely good users (like Old Cutlers and Frontier)? Here are my two; I bought the 1108 earlier this week, the 1081 I bought circa 1998 at the MCX at Camp Lejeune and carried for the last years of my ARNG career (retired in 2005). I found the knife to take and hold a good edge and consider it to be in the Old Timer class of knives. Does anyone collect these? I see on e-bay several different models from this series - does anyone have a list or a catalog sheet of the variations? I did see on the Kabar website that they offer a very nice line of high end (pricey) pocketknives that look like Kabar branded Canal Street pocketknives - good to see that CUTCO is attempting to keep some pocketknives in the Kabar line.

i dont live far from olean and i do not believe there has been a pocket knife made there since coleman bought them out in the 60s except for some cutco branded knives i think they have all been outsourced and i believe yours is made by camillus

I was thinking it had a strong resemblance to the Old Timer 61OT - would you happen to know if there is a cross reference to Camillus models? Thanks again!

Anyone know any history on these three knives? Marked,"Kabar Cleveland Ohio" and "Made in Hong Kong" on the reverse.Bought them at a flea market a couple years ago.Look to be pretty well made.

The first one looks like maybe a Camillus 69? Is the length around 4"?

I think you're right Mark. It does bear some resemblance to the Camillus 69 but given that, really how many ways are there to vary the look of a stockman or any pattern for that matter.

Ramrod, I believe you have nailed it - the length on the top pictured Kabar is right around 4" and matches Jerry's picture of the Camillus #69 perfectly. My Kabar has narrower blades than any of my Buck, Schrade, Frontier, Imperial, Craftsman, or Case 3-7/8" - 4" Stockman knives - the Camillus and Kabar seem to share the same blade shape on all three blades.
