A Schrade for Australia

Here is a Schrade SC524 I customized for an AAPK member in Australia.
He was very patient, as I had the knife before my surgery last year, but could not work on this knife until after I had my hand surgery. I certainly appreciate his patience and I hope he finds it worth the wait.

The knife started as a Scrimshaw SFO or ad knife for Grahamsville Rod & Gun Club, which may be in New York near the old Schrade factory, from what I could find on the web. It was purchased on ebay and shipped to me in Oregon.

The work on the knife was rather simple; I removed the white Delrin handles and added a red fiber spacer between the liner of the knife and the ebony wood handles. I was fortunate to find some super dark ebony wood a while back, so the contrast between the black of the ebony and the red spacer looks good.

I hope you enjoy the pics.

Please note: The scratches seen on the bolsters in a couple pics are scratches on the glass of my scanner, NOT scratches on the knife!

Another beauty Dale! That ebony is dark, I know.

The red spacers set things off. Your Australian customer is going to be pleased, no doubt.

Thanks everyone I appreciate your critique.
I find the simplicity and flowing lines rather appealing myself.

Dale, the knife looks great. Unique simplicity, with a touch of colour is what I had in mind from the outset. As before, you have done an outstanding job, thank you. Looking forward to it arriving here in Oz.

Chris.

I am glad you approve Chris!

Your choice of colors and materials really added to the graceful lines of that pattern.
The end result, to my eye, is very refined and flowing. The phrase "smooth as silk" comes to my mind.

I think of all the knives I have customized to someone else's specifications, this knife is my favorite.

Here is one more pic of the knife. This is the top of the handles looking down into the blade pocket.
I noticed a tool mark I had to remove. This is the final result.

Beautiful work, black and red is my favorite color combination! I also like how slim the finished piece is, seems like it will be very pocket friendly.
