Is this Case XX Buffalo knife a factory error?

I got this knife on trade.It has no blade engraving on it at ALL no XX,no dots,no words...here is the auction for it...does anyone know what it is ? why is the blade completely blank?

Just thinking out loud here ::hmm:: , but if someone were to take a lightly rusted Case Buffalo knife and polish it until it were bright and shiney with no signs of the light rust that was previously there, wouldn't the end result look just like this "factory error" knife ?

Are the tang shoulders consistent? It is difficult to tell from the pics but it looks like the pile side blade shoulder does not reach the blade back like the front shoulder does.

Could be wrong but just a observation from the ebay pics.

i know that there were clasp knives that resembled case knives to the tee. they were lightly etched pakistan, that could very easily be buffed out, and the case shield added. just another possibility.

Since the pin looks installed by an amateur, I would think more likely a blade from some other knife installed into a buffalo frame. But you simply never know.
