can anybody tell me about this timber scriber or rase knife? date range?

This timber scribe was made before WWII. I do not have much info on timber scribes but I have seen the sketch for this version in the pattern books and it is probably from the 1920's or 1930's.

That' funny...Where in the world did you pick that up at Johnnie, I've never seen that style in any of my books before...

hey sunburst. got it on ebay. they were used in the early days to mark wood crates for adresses, etc. and i understand they were used to e"rase" the previous markings on crates to recycle them. also used in wine keg marking. ship builders used them to mark the waterline as well.
