I find the "Tested RR Sharp" to be interesting. Gosh CASE will never be forgotten. That's a good thing.

No I wouldn't buy one but then again, most of you wouldn't buy a broken Schrade just to give it away to someone else.

Pa; Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be begrudge anybody's enjoyment of these knives. It seems that Rough Rider is trying to create a collectable knife with these fancy bolsters and all Hukk and I are saying is, if the knives have the same blade steel as their previous knives, then they are still a low quality product and not really collectable. Sorry if I offended any of you guys with my post.

they are lookers, not bad for chineese, but still not a great knife (JMHO). But like PA said- "to each his own" BTW I'm still searching for some proper blades for that schrade, I'm not giving up the hunt

Fancy Bolsters, fancy handles, nice and pretty isn't it?
Kinda like putting perfume on a pig.

Man you caught me dead to rights on that one. CCBill gave me a wonderful S&M with green waterfall handles. I am getting the back spring replaced and hopefully it will be cherished for a long time. Your one of the good ones. CCBill.

As "pretty" as they look, I've learned my lesson and would rather save my $$ and buy a Case, Bulldog, Schratt & Morgan, Queen, Robeson etc.... even used ones in that category ...

its too bad to see such an obvious copy of a trade mark XXTested to RRTested, whats next? AAtested, BBtested... personally I'd like to see a DDtested... theres a conversation starter.

Your right on that house. It sold cheap and I am not sure what they will do with it. A museum did open in Little Valley but not in this building. I think they are trying for the old Cat factory as thier ultimate location. You can say anything you like, cause that is what a knife person is. Call'em like you see'em. I really do appreciate this fine bunch of people. We can all be serious but with a humorous side that teaches us all and keeps it on the lite side without bashing. I have found that this doesn't happen much on other knife forums. Sometimes I am blunt but still I like to respect others opinions. By the way, "I still wouldn't buy one of these RR knives" but then if it isn't at least 50 years old, I don't usually look even once. Just my cup of tea has to be old and crusty I guess before I'll drink it.

got 6+ " last night, real cold out, almost too cold to go out in the shop.

Come on out to Oregon. About 50 F and a sprinkles today. The day before yesterday was sunny and 60 F. Yesterday was near 60 F and overcast. Not too bad when I hear what you fellows have to put up with!

China made knives..

Those knives look good. They will sell, too. And steel quality will improve.I started another thread somewhere here in AAPK not long ago, concerning Boker made-in-china knives, and my impressions of three of them. My hard use of the knives continue, and I remain impressed, possilby even more than I was at first.

I'm not un-American; I am a pragmatist. A realist as well. I accept things I cannot change, and my not buying those three made in China knives would not have slowed that juggernaut that is the Chinese Industrial machine in the least.

It is not unnatural to dislike change, and change is what all of us are seeing with the flood of China made knives in particular and everything else generally. It's forcing American knife firms to make changes and some of those changes are good, some bad. Did imported knives hurt Camillus and Schrade? Without a doubt. Would Canal Street Cutlery be making those beautiful works of art without the changes brought on by China produced goods? No, of course not.

These RR knives are selling, introducing new collectors to the wonderful world of knife collecting. We can smile and nod as they show us their new china made blades, and be friendly, slowly introducing them to real knives of real beauty and long-term collectibility-- or, as often happens in these knife forums, we can slam the new guys and insult their purchases... which will accomplish what??

I can recall when the first Japanese knives hit our hobby. We lived through it, and moved on. And then Taiwan. There has always been Pakistan and their stuff. Living in Michigan as I do, I am close to the auto industry, who in the recent past, was hammering on their suppliers to "get it made in China" and deliver it cheaper. Well, guess what, other countries are in the picture now who will work and produce even cheaper. Where will the next tide of cursed foriegn knives come crashing onto our shores from?? Honduras? Former Iron curtain countries? Doesn't matter, it will happen sooner or later.

Just my take on a subject I am growing bored with.

This need for improvement is the reason why there are no China made knives in my collection...Not because of my patriotism or that I can not except change but because I have yet to see a china made knife that I consider a quality knife...If and when they do,I'll probably purchase one.
