All About Pocket Knives

I"d like to hear some comments on Fight'n rooster knives I have been buying 5 or 6 of these knives in the last 4 months, they seem to be good knives, but being new to this I would like other peoples thinking thanks Bizzaro

EXCELLENT German made knives!

I think they are excellent knives. I own several in Pearl and celluloid as well. I feel like they have gotten a bad rap in some circles as knives that are prone to rust. The blades are carbon steel on almost all of their knives so they will rust under certain conditions as will most knives if not stored and cared for properly. I think Frank Buster is one of the most innovative guys in the business. Most of his knives in addition to being high quality are in rather low runs which contributes to their collectability. Jim Parker wrote a book on them some years back which has colored pictures of almost all of the Fight'n Rooster knives along with values. I think there is definitely a future in collecting fight'n roosters. They are made in the same german factory that the older bulldogs were made in. I should mention that the FR knives I have had experience with are the older FRs made in the 80's with the Frank Buster Cutlery Co. tang stamp or the Frank Buster Celebrated Cutlery Co. Stamp. I have not had experience with the newer knives with the Frank Buster and Son stamp so I will leave those comments to someone who has.

I have a few fightn Roosters, all 5" texas toothpicks, which is what I mainly collect. Pearl, Cell, Stag, all excellent knives. I hear complaints about some of the older celluloids, which I do have reason to believe are valid.

Fight'n Rooster is a great knife. I don't have any of the older celluloids but they are known to gas out. If you look closely at the pictures in the book, some of them were in the process of gassing out. Fight'n Rooster says that the handles on the new ones are not celluloid, I think he said the material is called zeelox. That is not spelled correctly but that is how you pronounce it. The handles are gaurenteed for life. Here is a picture of a new Plantation Stockman.
