All About Pocket Knives

I picked up this little fella at a show yesterday for $3, it's a well built knife with half stops good springs, and takes a real good edge. The steel feels like the old schrade steel, looks alot like the older 294 pattern with the pen blade. I have seen similar jig patterns on schrade too-my question is, with several smaller lesser known companies they had thier knives made by someone else, maybe this was made by schrade? A long shot but I figured if anyone here could give me dates of this company and who made knives for them (if anyone) and other ifo I figured it'd be you guys. thanks for the help.

thanks for the info. I think I'll leave it as is, has too much character. I'll just sharpen it up and pocket it.

MM, Goins book on cutlery markings says Shapleigh used that marking as one of its brands from1902-1939. Oops, I see johnnie f. beat me to Levine's dates. They disagree a little, but the era is there. Here's one of Shapleigh's own brand, definitely made by Schrade. Pretty similar!
