All About Pocket Knives

a year and a half ago, decided I needed a belt sheath for a large folder I bought. Tried making one, looked like it was chewed out of an old catcher's mitt by a deranged beaver. Tried a few more sheaths to get it right, starting to get better at it...long learning curve here for a dumb guy... a few more & I think I'll get to where I wanna be..comments and criticisms welcome.
Will post a pic of my first humble efforts later.

I think they are awesome! I think they look better than most I see for sale. Very cool! I really dig that bottom one, she is a beauty.

Looking good. If you go into business you can call it "Rabid Beaver Leather Works" Guaranteed to draw customers with a name like that. Don't forget to sell T-shirts.

This is my original effort...primitive but serviceable. I haven't made a better one for this knife yet, it reminds me to try a little harder with each one. Sheaths are all hand stitched, using two 5-strand waxed polyester threads, and are all made out of 9 oz. vegetable tanned tooling leather. I use 9 oz. leather for the welt also, and I like a lot of leather there to protect the wearer in case of a fall or accident. Sheaths are all wet-molded to fit the knives, and if possible, I try to build a little cam-like knob into the welt to further secure the knife. I lost a knife out of a pouch type sheath once, about 25 years ago up in the central Adirondacks of NY state. It was a 5 mile hike back in the next weekend to find the knife, but I did find it.

I'm impressed..............so much so I'd like to know if you'd be willing to make a sheath for a fixed blade I own that is currently buck naked.
