All About Pocket Knives

Anyone have a complete list of the CASE Centennial 100 year 1889-1989 set as far as patterns/knives included?

I have researched and know there is 100 knives total, according to what I see as far as sets sold. Can't find much more and would like to know all patterns included , if anyone knows.

You have all 100 knives in the set? What is the serial number on your set? Do you have the knife roll for the set? Just curious.

I have about 30 or so knives from the set , all serial number 261. The chances are nill that I could find the remainig knives in the set with the same serial number though.

I have the set # 102. It is complete and in the original folding case. I'll try and get some pictures and upload them later today.

Think I've got a Gunstock with red bone scales left I had quite a few at one and have give them to my son's as X-Mas present's over the years--sold a bunch of stag handled ones off back in the 90's--so were they sold in set's originally and dealers broke them up ?
I know my original purchase was for a pile of red bone and stag I don't remember them being #'d the same I'll have to ask my boys if they're #'ed the same--I quit buying anything that was made to be a collector as far as being #'ed or etched

There were 500 serialized sets at retail price of 5000 dollars, 100 knive total in a roll or case. There were also 2000 units of each of the 100 patterns with no serial numbers produced. They were open stock to dealers. The only handle materials were redbone, stag and goldstone, I believe. Most of the patterns were in redbone.

They did break up some sets as proof by the 30 or 40 I have of my serial number 261. Not sure where the other 60 knives are. Probably spread across the planet.

Johnnie's set is beautiful! but was not part of the Centennial set we are discussing. My book shows "Curly Maple Set" 1989 Production Set of 12 Curly Maple handled knives with 1990 tang stamp. 500 sets made. Worth 750 dollars.
I am not sure if they had serial number though.

Thanks Jerry that does help-I know there used to be quite a few on tables at gun shows back in the day so probably none of mine were #'ed. A whole set would be pretty impressive to see hanging on the wall. I do recall selling my Stags back to the same guy I bought them from a few yrs. later and making a small profit wished I had kept them now--I know I don't see them often on Ebay and they're usually Red bone when they do show up.

Yes Sir. you are welcome. I have the list of what is included in the set. Just based on memory, I would say about 70% of the set was redbone, with the remaining roughly 30% being stag and goldstone combined. Factor in only 2500 made, that is why not a lot of stags floating around. I can look later on and see how many and what patterns were stag.

Didn't realize that part I assumed there were sets of each handle material.
I do know that the ones I bought were the same patterns just handled differently but they weren't #'ed either--but never did see as many Stag as the Red Bone--but I've never been big on Stag like most people nice stag just don't carry good in your pocket is why I've never bought much.

Your correct about my set except they all are serialized #110 and have a 1 dot tang stamp making them 1989 ....not 1990.

That is where it discusses your set. I thought it was odd it said 89' Production set with 90' stamps but that is what it says. I assume it has normal 89' tangs stamps????

Correct, the sets are a mix of the 3 handle materials I mentioned across the 100 knife set. So no sets of all stag or all redbone, etc. You bring a point I never really thought of...
Duplicate patterns in the set with different handles. There are not many duplicates due to the fact that I said, roughly 70% redbone handled knives in the 100 knife set. So only so many can possibly be duplicated. For example, some patterns in the set were handled in all 3 materials used in the set. Some patterns were duplicated with just 2 of the 3 handle materials. Some only in 1 material. For instance, the CASE 25-1/2 Small Coke came in all 3 handles in this set. The 54 came in redbone and stag. The 042 came in red and goldstone, etc, etc.

This is the only 100 year knife I own. I really haven't seen to many other stag handled centennial knives. I have to say the stag on this trapper is pretty nice. Check it out.
