All About Pocket Knives

Bought one off EBay for $16.50/free shipping to try out for a knife to carry on the farm that's not one of my more treasured pieces. Fit/finish is not bad, sharp blade, grips the color of spicy brown mustard, with a lanyard hole. I prefer a US made, but for a tool, rather than a keepsake of sorts, this is probably going to fill the bill. If I find a deal, I might give the A.G. Russell Cowboy a whirl also.

I think mine cost $10 more than yours, but I don't mind. In the limited tests I did last year, the Boker Plus Rangebuster held an edge better than any of the other sodbusters tested. It was the only one I kept, and was added to my "almost EDC" stack. I just wish the scales weren't that nasty yellowish color, they remind me out of something found in a diaper. I've thought about having it re-handled with something like canvas micarta, but that would sort of defeat any idea of cost-effectiveness.

I briefly had one of Russell's "Rancher" knives (meant to order the "Cowboy" but had a brain slip and ordered the smaller version). It was a very well-made knife, but I didn't get into testing the blade.

I've got it on a leather lanyard, tucked down the left Justin Roper at this moment...

I have one of the A.G.Russell Rangers. Sharp as a razor. Wide blade. Flat ground. Fine knife. Like it except for the top back end of the blade where it joins the tang. The blade sticks up higher the smaller tang and "protrusion" has a tendency to catch on my pocket on the way out. Fixed that by carrying it in a ballistic Nylon sheath on my belt. You might remedy that with a lanyard if you don't want to carry it in a sheath.

Update on the Rangebuster; this dude will get sharp in a hurry. Sure wish it was made somewhere else, but it's a decent tool.

I have the Boker double lock trapper and you cant beat it for the price.It has the 440c and jigged bone handle.I have had this one for about 3 years now and carry it daily.The finish is not bad and the knife works real smooth and is well made.A good solid knife for ,I think, $14.99 win I got it.
