All About Pocket Knives

Got this off the bay this week. Was a bit scruffy, but cleaned up without a lot of effort.

Tortoise scales are in pretty good shape with one small bug bite.

1" wide up front tapering back to 6/8 at he heel








Pretty wedgy I'd say.

I cut myself using an electric razor

I'm figuring around 1860-1880 on that one D.

It honed up nice and shaves great! I've got a few that are half hollow and some that are nearly full wedge like that one. I like the way they shave better than the full hollow ground razors that became the norm around 1890. The thicker, heavier blades aren't near as noisy.

I guess you could compare using a straight razor to using a muzzle loader vs a modern cartridge gun. They both get the job done. One's just a bit slower and more labor intensive than the other.
