Older Gerber bone handled folder question by newbie.

Does anyone here know the factory site for Gerber knives? On the tang of an old Gerber bone handled folder I have, it says Portland, Oregon. I called information and they have no listing for Gerber in Portland or any of the surrounding cities.

I'd like to have the blade replaced and factory refurbished. It was made way back when quality was obviously top notch.

Thanks for any help you might be able to furnish. Please, don't tell me they're now located in China! Please! ::doh::

..........ops, now I see there was a "questions" forum. Sorry for posting in the incorrect place. ::dang::

Gerber is owned by Fiskars (think bright handled scissors), but I think they still have offices in Portland.
Here is the website...

http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php

And contact information...

Good luck,

Bill

I e-mailed them about my problem. My son found an old Gerber genuine bone handled folder....about 4 1/2" long with brass bolsters in an irrigation canal many years back. It looks like someone took a grinder to the blade, and tried to "stake" one of the pins, but other than that, it's in fine shape. I want to see if I can get Gerber to replace the blade and pin and give it the factory new finish. I want to keep it strictly
as a "collectable" and someday pass it along to my grandkids. It's a very heavy knife....way to heavy to carry in your pants pocket, but would serve very well as a folding hunter/skinner. The steel in the blade is quite hard.
