All About Pocket Knives

I'm relatively new here, but have progressed to the point where I have a couple of questions (for starters).

What is the difference between a Butterbean and a Canoe? (Length? blade styles?)

What is the difference between peachseed jigging and standard jigging?

I purchased a Case Kentucky Bluegrass split-back whitler (6383) on ebay and am curious as to the jigging. From pictures I've seen it could be either standard or peachseed.

I always thought "Butterbean" was a Case nickname for the Canoe pattern, especially the "Baby Butterbean"...but I'm not 100% on that one.

As Bill said butterbean seems to be another name for a canoe. Perhaps the shape reminded someone of a butterbean, aka limabean.

Thanks. I've already been to the 'Case College.' Great site, but I'm still confused about the difference between a couple of the jigging patterns. maybe in a few years I'll get it straight.

And, yes, I think the canoe and butterbean pattern is the same. I'm almost convinced that the only difference is the size - canoe is bigger (longer) than the butterbean. And, yes, I like butterbeans (the legume) as well as the knives.

BTW, I just won (on ebay) a Case Seahorse Whittler! with the checker pattern bone scales. Can't wait till it gets here!
