Hey, is anything right about this knife? I'm only asking becuase I'm not sure. The stamp looks ok to me, but the shield looks wrong. Nice stag too. If you don't want to post them over open forum PM me please thanks!

That frame seems to resemble a schrade-walden trapper that I have. But then again I'm no expert.

Totally a shot in the dark here since I know next to nothing about Case knives but was a slimline Trapper ever made in the tested era..?

I'm not an expert on anything yet, but even I think this looks a bit funny. Did case make use the XX blades with the oval shield? Like I said I don't have the knack of spotting fakes yet.

don't yet have that expert eye, but the blades don't look right to me, and the scales dont look right either . but i may be wrong, close?

I've known this seller for a long time. I don't quite trust his knives to be authentic.

First I want to thank everyone involved with this website. ( BRILLIANT). In looking at the picks of the trapper theres two things that stand out to me . First their should be a number stamped on this knife. The number system started the same time that the XX started. They say that their might be a few that diddn't get the number but rare. The number system to decifer age of the knife is one thing that makes case so collectible. Second the C on the tang stamp looks so wrong to me looks to round for the size of the other letters. Iv'e seen round ones before but usually the other letters match size better. Well for what the person paid for that knife I hope they really enjoy it. Thats what it's all about. Again thanx for all the hard work. Oh the circle shield does appear on the XX knives.

Case 54 Trappers marked "Case XX"(c.1945-1964) consisted of three different frames, the oldest of which is the tested frame. Like many other Case patterns early inthe XXera the tested frame XX trapper was usually(if not always) void of a pattern number. The tested Frame XX is a transition knife and is in every way just like the old Tested Trapper except the XX stamp. My opinion based on the shape, slenderness, and purportion of both the frame and blades is still that this knife is not what the seller claimed it was.

boys, I gota tell you that bladerunner "Gary" is the expert here on these and I agree with him. But, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to say that there is nothing about this knife that I like. BUFFED, Stag stamp construction "look at where the blade meets the backspring Lots of flags jump up at me. "read the knife" verbally take it apart as Gary does and the picture becomes so clear.

The worst thing a collector of pocket knives can do is open the blade read the tang say WOW!!!!!!! an old CASE XX, in nice condition I'll take it for $200. WRONG, you've just got taken
