All About Pocket Knives

I don't buy or trade for many tactical knives but I got a great deal on this used Trident at one of the local pawn shops...Its my first SOG,I don't know that much about them, so I thought I would post a pic and see what people had to say about them....any input would be appreciated.

I like it but even though I like a lighter knife for EDC it was too light for me.On the other hand it was sharp enough and took the usage I gave it well.Kept an edge fairly well too.

Johnnie; You can buy this Sog knife new for about $65.00. I think the blade is AUS 8 steel. For the money it actually is not a bad EDC. If you do a lot of cord and string cutting it is very handy, do to the second blade on the handle [/img]

Thanks guys, It is a little lighter than what I am use to....The assisted opening is super strong and for $20 I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I'm bringing back some old threads! I picked up a SOG Trident Tanto over the weekend for $54, it's going to be my EDC. So far I like it, but I've only used it a couple times. I know the "Groove " in the handle is said to be good for fishing line and paracord, things of that nature, but I'm thinking it would also be a good seatbelt cutter.

Well...how do you like it so far?

Almost bought one a Dicks a few months ago - went with the Kershaw instead.
I like it and it was a tough decision.

You can't go wrong with a Kershaw neither.

I have a total of five SOG knives now, having just added a Flash II to my small collection. The Trident is one I have but so far have chosen not to carry. For me it is a bit too large for comfortable carry. Also it seems to have a somewhat thin blade for so large a knife.
I'm likeing the Flash II and have played with it all weekend. It will get some pocket time starting right away.
For the past year or more I have carried a SOG Mini-Vulcan daily. I really like that knife. Even though it does not have the assisted opening feature the Trident and Flash II have, it flips open in a flash and is rock solid.
Overall I am quite impressed with the fit and finish and total quality I've noted in all the SOG knives I've bought or examined. I'm confident as time goes by more SOGs will find their way to my house.

I like the Aegis better.

Last year i had about 6 NIB Tridents i was selling.It would snag my pocket with that cutout feature.I had a tough time selling them off & had to trade them.At about $65-$75 a pop i could tell people weren't sure about dropping that much cash on a Zytel handled knife.Although i liked the spring assist performance on that knife better than any other knife so far,they got that right.The blade was pretty sharp too.Just a bit expensive,if they were $20 less who knows!?
