A friend showed me this knife a couple of months ago and told me he had found it in the road several years ago. It was in a Shrade carrier, but as you can see it is a Camillus. He said he had no special attachment to it and would trade it for a yellow Case Sod Buster Jr. CV. Made the trade and have tried to find some info on the knife in the AAPK Forums, but haven't been able to determine the age and what the blade material is. Also there are 3, 1/16" holes on the mark side that puzzle me. The 2 outer holes are about 3/16" deep and are bored into the brass liner but not through it, while the center hole is only about an 1/8" deep. The yellow scales are a little thicker thn 1/8". I would appreciate any info or ideas about this knife. Treefarmer

Looks like yours is one of the Yello-Jaket models. Here's a link to some that sold on eBay.
Camillus 716's sold on eBay
The three holes look to me like someone has, at some point in time, mounted a pocket clip on the knife. Sorry I couldn't dig up more information but this should get you started.

Thanks for the reply jerryd6818. After digging a little deeper, I found on page 6 of "Show us your Camillus knives" forum, pictures by FRJ and a good response from Orvet giving a date that may indicate when the knife was probably discontinued. The blades are some type a stainless and since the knife I traded for is not anywhere near mint, she will become an EDC during deer season, which is still going on in the Florida panhandle. Hi Treefarmer, it looks like some one tried to put a clip on that knife. It never came with one. That could be the reason it was found on the road.
They are fine knives. I think highly of mine. The blades are 440 Stainless.
It has a Camillus sheath. I bought mine from SMKW in 1990.

FRJ, what is the handle material on these 716's? I can't make out the last word on the bottom picture from the old catalogue. Yellow_ _ _ _ _? and India Stag-style_ _ _ _ _? Even at 400% blow up I can't quite make it out. Is it derlin? I agree with you that is a fine knife, at least it feels good in the hand and I will give it try this coming week working on some venison thats in the cooler. Treefarmer

Hi, Treefarmer. Yes, it's delrin.
I think you will like that knife. I hope so anyway. How is the action on it?
You are the first person I have had any interaction with who owned the knife since I bought mine in 1990.
Use it in good health.

Wow! $34.99 ($60 in today's dollars) and twenty years later some are going for well over $100.

Vit_213, I too thank you for the info in the form of those old catalogues from Camillus that you posted. I had run across some Camillus catalogues the other day on the internet that were in Russian and was disappointed that I could not read them. My intrest has been mainly in Case knives and I do have several other brands, but this really sparks my intrest in Camillus. I've only had one other Camillus and it was a military type that had a broken or missing blade and it and several other knives were sent to Elvis for parts last summer. I notice you are posting from Moscow, Russia, that's a long way from the Florida panhandle. The world of communication never ceases to amaze this old man. Thanks again, Treefarmer

It is excellent that the Web allows us easy to communicate
(Now I regret that I badly taught English in school)

This is not the official Camillus catalog. Dealer price is about half of the retail price. In addition, to important partners made by great discounts.
