Hmmm. The Logger Jack. Another knife pattern to ponder from our cracker jack design team at GEC. Must be a jack knife, right? Could it look anything like this????

I do like your first two renderings, Barry … I like the "step" in the handle by the pen blade - what would a design like that be called … ? [he asks naively, knowing full well he has likely set himself up … ] … ?

I don't know Barry...GEC's making high heel shields again.....chain saw with a high heel shield can't see it happening......

This is from GEC's website - looks like a 'whaler jack' or sumpin.

it says "LUMBERJACK SPEAR AND PEN BLADE DESIGN PIECES"

This knife will need a lanyard hole at least for me to consider it a 'Lumberjack' model.
A Timber Fallers knife is used as a plumbob to determine the lean of a tree. It is also
used to clean the crud from your bar and clear the oiler holes when you are changing
your chain. Alot of Fallers prefer a locking model, but its not a requirement. Laslty,
the knife needs to be offered with a clip blade imo.

I realize that GEC is re-introducing 100yo patterns, I am just saying what I prefer.
Lumberjack knives that I grew up around are Old Timer 125OT LL's and the like.
(I used a SAK Officer for a few years while falling, worked fine too)

Having said all that, I am excited about this knife an will buy it no matter.

Barry - a 'King of the Woods' model would be perfect!!! Pop a thong hole in it and you'd
really have something there!!

That's the knife I thought of first the Old Timer when it was mentioned that the Lumberjack would be the next knife.........Barry you might be close with your last design

How about something along these lines in about a 3 7/8 inch jack? Maybe one in spear and one in clip configuration with the pen blade in front.

Would be very happy with a knife similar to that!

the NF spear should be very good.

Love the idea of a GEC Gunstock. That King O' The Woods looks amazing too!

I'm definitely all spear and wharnecliffed out.

I posted my Photoshopped(below) clip blade version of the Whaler a while back. I'd love to see a large beefy GEC knife with a clip. Many AAPK member seemed to think GEC wouldn't make anything like this because it's not traditional. I hope slipjoint knives continue to evolve with new handle and blade shape combinations.

The #23 as a lockback with clip blade and lanyard hole would make me happy too.

Well since it's a jack, I assume both blades will open from one end, but I doubt that the frame will be the same as the 36. I hope GEC puts the secondary blade in front of the master on this pattern so you don't have to turn the knife over to choose a blade. Maybe they'll give us a hint soon with the pattern number.

GEC loves keeping us in suspense!
