All About Pocket Knives

This is the old Case 6288 Tested Congress I posted about a few days ago. I attempted to take some photos and attach them to my post. I hope I did it correctly and reduced their size enough. The knife has been in the family for many years and I've had it for about 25 yesrs. I was told that it is has green bone scales as that green bone was the only scales that the 6288 was made in. Is that correct? As you can tell from the images, it is in great shape with full blades except for the spots and patina on the blades. What would you suggest I do to the blades?

I am very new to the forum but have learned a lot and look forward in reading the posts several times a day.

very nice knife randy. all i found was greenbone. oil the joints, ren wax the rest. thanks for sharing you beautiful knife.

Sweeeet....You could buff that patina off....but dude,I wouldn't!..That knife is beautiful just the way it is.

If it were mine,I would do as jonet143 advised.

::tu::randy that is one find knife.it was only made in green bone and it books for about 3500.00 in mint con.if you would like,i will take it off your hands.

Improper cleaning can put the smell of "counterfeit" on a knife, especially a valuable knife like yours! I no longer buy "cleaned" knives! Enjoy the patina, put there with family history!! And, remember, you can't "un-clean" a knife. Once you buff the character out of it, it's too late!!

Beautiful green bone. I would shoot anyone that got close to this knife with a piece of sand paper if it were mine.

This is a knife that I would preserve as is. Oil and Ren Wax, that's about all. To make it shiny, is to destroy it's value. If you clean it (restore), it will always look "cleaned".
Enjoy it as is, I would!
