Even with my very limited knowledge of knives I would know better...This comes down to what the old hands have tried to pound into our heads, "read the knife, not the tang stamp." That knife just doesn't look right. What's that metal band in the middle? Why does it have four handle pins? Why does the blade have those lines on it that look like it just came off a high speed buffer? Why is the tang stamp so regular and perfect? And why do my reference books not show this pattern? Like I said, I don't have the knowledge to say this knife is a counterfeit, but I do know better than to bid on it.

it could be a genuine napanock assembled knife, made from parts in the 70's
this person is another knife mechanic who can take apart, clean and assemble all the parts to look like mint.wish i had that talent.

i should also add, that i would not want to bid on this knife either,, no matter what its history is..i highly doubt it is 90 to 120 years old.

Nothing, I mean NOTHING about that knife is vintage.
