Idea for a new area

I'd like to see an area for knife repairers and customizers to discuss their work and for others to ask questions about repairing knives.

Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Actually this is a great idea. We have an area for custom knives and customized factory knives but not an area for repair and resources, repair techniques, and make your own repair parts. ::tu:: ::tu::

Good Evening Folks,

Do you figure we should combine this with the customized knife forum, or have two seperate forums? ::shrug::

Let me know and I'll set it up ...no problem. ::tu::

If anyone has suggestions for a good title and description for the new forum topic, I'm all ears on that too.

Here is just my .02. It sounds to me like it would be more of a specialty forum, so maybe put it in that category as a seperate forum. As description, maybe something along the lines of:

"This forum is for those who like to repair and/or customize knives, and for those who would like to learn"

Title?

Knife Repair and Modification

Knife work

The Ratnest (  )

Knife tinkering

I think this should be a seperate forum. I agree with MM. Also we do get a lot of knife care questions, questions regarding the removal of the patina of a blade and making it shiny (make it look like new) and we should have something for knife restoration. I think all of these fit into this category along with a few others.

Just brainstorming a bit.
Perhaps create a new catergory for Technical Forums, then in that category create a forum for:

care and maintinance

embellishment

repair and restoration

and if you wanted you could even combine the embellishment and repair/restoration into one forum so it's easier to maintain and takes less space.
Just some thoughts

My vote would be a separate forum alongside Custom Knives and Customized (embellished) Factory Knives.

I also think something like "Knife Care, Repair and Restoration" covers things very well.

As always, JMO.

Bill makes a good point, making a single forum along side the custom knives category for all three topics may prove well. Ok, I was headed out to the shop at the last post. I'm really going out there now. No more posts from me until this evening, promise :)

More suggestions

I was thinking that you could start a section called "Cutler's Corner", or is that too elite to use?

Sub headings could be:

1. Tips and Tricks

2. Tools and Fixtures

3. Care and Restoration

4. General Questions

new forum

Hey;
Does anyone have the knowledge of heat treating? Would this forum be the place to ask for things to be made if measurements were provided for lets say switchblade springs? Just inquiring, they are currently available in Florida for 10 bucks. I would rather buy from one of you.
If you can do it.
