Another old knife photo and a general question

Here is another item I picked up at a flea market! It reminded me of my old Boy Scout knife (I never was a Boy Scout...just had the knife!). It is made by Imperial, I am assuming in the USA. If my guess is correct, this IS the same knife that was made for the Boy Scouts, just without the BS shield. I only paid $5.00 for it and it is in pretty good shape! Would love to know how old it is!
Another question I have for all of you is how did you start your knife collection? What did you start buying when the bug hit you? I got interested after looking at my grandfathers knife. I have been buying knives of various types the last few weeks, new and used. I have picked up new knives by Case, Boker, Schrade, Remington, Rough Rider, and Colt. I have some USA made Remington's on the way. I really like the Remington trapper I purchased. In is a Chinese model but appears to be very well made with 440C stainless steel. The Rough Riders are also Chinese, seem very solid, and are nice to look at. The Colt is Chinese, but has real bone or stag handles. My favorites so far are the Case and Boker knives. I am not too picky about where they are made, although I do prefer USA made knives. I think that is one of the few things that are still made with quality in this country. Most of the Chinese knives I looked at I think were not very good quality, but I do not think everything made in China is junk. I have mainly purchased knives that looked appealing to me, and a few that were being passed as a collectors item in tins, 1 of 2500, etc. Is this how most of you got started? This is a little long winded, so I will end this here. Thank you all in advance for you expertise and this great web page!!
