All About Pocket Knives

Can anyone help with history of this knife? It's dark out right now so I had to use the flash but I think the pictures turned out decent enough. I can get more if needed.

It's a shame the main blade is broken. Both blades show no signs of wear (the pics look worse than the original) at all except for one being broken and it seems mostly useless without it.

I am not familiar with that name but the secondary blade I've seen before in metal handled knives made by Camillus Cutlery Co.Could be a contract knife made by them. I'll see if I can find a pic of one.

Wonder if the knife might have belonged to a pipe smoker and the blade may have been purposely altered for scrapeing the pipe bowl. Cool little knife though Jude, I wouldn't call it useless. WB

i like the way someone turned that broken blade into the shape of a budding blade. they did a good transformation there

That's the same patent date stamped into the blade.

Here are pictures of 3 knives with the same blade.
The first is a single blade with corkscrew on the back that has nickel silver scales engraved with the initials E.W. and the reverse saying,"Massachusetts Consistory" Not sure what that means.The blade is not marked but the bail is marked, "J&C.N.Co." which stands for the Jewelry and Cutlery Novelty Co. I have several knives with this name on them including a Schrade pull ball switchblade.

The next one is also a J&C.N.Co. knife and has a key blank for a secondary blade along with the corkscrew.It has a Masonic emblem attached with the words "Beneficiary Degree" on it that looks to be made of low grade gold with cloisonne' enamelling.

The last one is marked Camillus Cutlery Company in 4 lines(looks like a 3 line stamp)with a celluloid handle advertising Julius Wile and Sons products(a licquer distributor).What is unusual about this knife is that the bolsters are stamped from the liners(sort of like a louver in a locker) similar to the old shell handled knives.Never seen another Camillus with this type of bolster.
