All About Pocket Knives

I thought you might want to see my two new friends. I bought them both on eBay because there is nowhere in my area to pick up knives like these.

I think you will agree that they are nice guys, or gals depending on how you look at them.

The Yellow Trapper will be one of my new EDCs, so we'll see how the venerable Case company products stand up to normal everyday use these days. The little guy (or gal) is strictly for my collection. The former owner is someone you should look for when searching for knives on eBay. This knife came new in the box. Never opened, I think, before now. The seller I got the Case from is no bum either. He gave me a very good deal on it.

So now on to the knives.....

Yes the man you WON these knives from is not a bum. I have recived many things from him too.
If you are going to use the knife then fill out the paper and return it. If you are going to save it then don't.

Well, I haven't named her yet.

I don't know the year, but I think it is a 2006.

I don't know why they used yellow, but I like "banana" knives.

Well the name I would give her is ROSE (if she is your first YELLOW) after the Yellow Rose of Taxas.

The reason they made Yellow handles is for people that lose things, back in the old days. If they droped one it could be seen ezer to find it back.

Use the tabs at the top of this site CASE learn the year by useing the Pattern ###'s
Look at other post see all the info they have when posting. Save as much about your knife as you can find out.
I think I would save the Schrade and use the Case. Just gessing by the box of the case I gess it was made in the late 1990's but thats what the ###'s will tell you.

Yes I do save info. each knife I get on E-bay I print out the info and discription too.
On your knife in E-bay hit the print top right. then hit summary. then print first page. the copy discription go to WORDS and print that too.
I think you were given a knife Yes do the same make a record of your knives.

That case has the X's & dots system, so it was 2000's model. I can see 5 x's, but I cannot make out any dots, so knife should be 2005.

Both very nice knives! I think you'll enjoy adding the Case Trapper as an EDC knife. I've had an identical Trapper for almost a year now, that I often carry, and I really enjoy using it. Glad to see you opted for the chrome vanadium blades...I've been leaning toward those over the SS on the last few Cases I bought.

Well, you saw the youngest, now meet an older friend I just made acquaintances with.

This Camillus was a steal for what I paid, considering it's condition. I'm planning on customizing it when I learn how. I'll show more pictures when that happens.

Can anyone tell me if there is any way to tell the age of this experienced sweetheart? I doubt it's that old, but I can tell you age isn't as important here as condition.

The pattern is a TL-29. Camillus made a bunch of them. I have probably more Camillus TL-29s than any other brand. I carried one all through my hitch in the Marine Corps. Great dependable knife.

I can't tell from the pic, are the handles wood or black composition? I think the wood handles are earlier, possibly WWII or perhaps earlier.

I lot of companies made them. I have them with 21 different brand names and am always looking for more.

TL-29s might make a good thread if anyone is interested.

BrokenCamillus.. The little 108OT Stockman is one of my favorite carry’s… I have one I’ve carried for 20 years now.. No matter what else I carry I have the 108 in my watch pocket – it’s one of the handiest knives I’ve owned.. No too many years ago you could buy them NIB at the swap meets for around $5 ea… I picked up several thru the years so I’d always have one – but the 1st one I bought is still hangin’ in there… Good choice!! I just recived ten Schrade 104 OT new in the box and I was the first one to open them. I payed $8.00 each on E-bay from radioguy, if you remerber he had like 41 for sale but used the word (NEW) so many did not go for them ( thinking they were the NEW china). They all are USA Schrade.

I guess that's why I'll up my bids in the future.

It has the black comp handles and it is a knife with a great feel to it. I never had one issued to me in the Air Force, but I remember using them from the tool box.

It would be an interesting thread to follow the use of pocket knives through the military.

If I knew anything about the subject I'd pitch in.
