i was wandering if the ones with the lanyard hole are actualy any differant than the 73 scouts from a few years back ? basicly the same knife except for the hole ? thanks..........

nice looking knifes ! iam thinking i really want a scout, so trying to learn a little before i buy, i noticed the ones with the lined bolsters seemed to look a little flater than the non lined, or do the lines make it just look that way in the pics ?

They are the same---just the photos _______they did make a #73,with flat bolsters & end cap---the photo,below,is the only one I have with the two different style bolsters,side by side___the Yellow & and the Stag ____

As Monk said, same knives, one holier than the other. However should it matter to you, based on the half dozen or so I have, the most recent run of them will have softer springs than the older ones.

I was wandering about that, is it still a good strong sturdy strong snap, opening and closing ?? i didnt know if i should hold out to find a old one, or go with a new one.

theres one i was looking at on collectors knifes.com that has burnt orange bone, single blade, , 2009 model, i cant tell from the pic if its a flat bolester or not ?

Yes, that knife has flat bolsters, its a nice one, I have one just like it.

well i think ill order one today from some where, i difantly want a strong back spring, as i like a good snap in a knife, hopefully the new ones havent been loosed up to much as compared to the older ones.

If you like 'em strong, I think you'll like that 2009 orange one. The newer ones are softer than I like, but I'm sure the change was intentional to please the folks that don't like them so stiff to open.

I've actually given thought to the orange one as I like the look of the flat bolsters.

probly hard to describe without having it in hand, but how weak are the newer ones ?
