All About Pocket Knives

Hello, I recently found this knife in my late fathers things.It has the number 21349 on the tang. I was curious how much the broken handle effects the collectability of this knife.

Hi Badwager, welcome to AAPK. With the amount of wear on the blades of that knife and the broken handle, chances are it has little value as a collector knife. To you it may have a lot of value since it has a family heritage. There are a lot of reasons to have a knife other than what it might be worth to a collector, what say you hang on to that one and pass it on to a son or grandson some day. For what it's worth, I think it is a good looking knife.

Knife appears to be a Cattaraugus Cut. Co. knife, a very collectible brand but it is in pretty rough shape.

It is possible to patch old bone handles.
I collect old broken knives and keep them for parts, including the broken handles.
I take a piece of bone that is a close patch and repair the broken handle.
It is not possible to make an old broken knife into a mint knife, but you can make it whole and increase the value and usability of it.

IMO, the real value of the knife is to you, the fact that it belonged to your dad.
