Wow, I've never seen anything like the shoe and the dozing dog before, really unique! I can see the shoe design was intended to advertise shoes, but what was the dog for I wonder? dog food perhaps, or pet store...or maybe just for the novelty of it...pretty cool though.

I think the collar is made from nickle silver but I'm not positive.

Star Brand Shoes distributed those shoe knives for quite a while and they were made by several different cutleries. One could accumulate a pretty good collection of them. They show up with great frequency on Ebay in various condition, including near mint.

Search Ebay for Star Brand Shoes and you'll most likely find one. If not, wait a couple of days and try again.

Here's another ivory lady's leg knife and a goldstone cap lifter that I recently ran across. Both are H. Boker & Co's Improved Cutlery.

The only one that I have. Remington NEHI Leg Knife c. 1930, nickel-silver handles.

The one I posted is also stamped."Stainless Taiwan" and to me is priceless as it was a gift from my youngest son when he was 16 years old. He is now a grandfather of three at 42.
