All About Pocket Knives

Am I the only one that thinks the Geppetto looks "fat"? Same blade configuration as the Courthouse Whittler, one different blade and a different frame.

Lifted the first picture off GEC web site.
Lifted the second picture from Old Hundred Collectables store.
Lifted the Courthouse Whittler picture from GPKnives web site.

If anyone has a problem with that, send a PM and I'll take the picture down.

I think it does a little. Had several Case Large Toothpicks and shyed away from GEC #12's for the same reason, they
looked stubby/fat. I have a few #12's now and have gotten used to them. Looks Like GEC removed some length on this
pattern as compared to the Case Seahorse, maybe thats what you are noticing. Be nice to see later versions with
a more desireable main blade.

It remind's of a Case Classic pattern...can't remember the number of it. The warnnie blade looks out of place to me, a clip would be more practical...JMHO.

That middle picture puts me in the mind of one of those little short dumpy #25s. Same-o, same-o your #12s, I now have a #25 and I've gotten used to it but it still makes me think of a woman I once dated. Most of the GEC patterns look that way to me. I didn't buy one until the #89 came out for that very reason. They've diversified so I now have a half dozen and there's a half dozen more I want. Too soon to tell if the Geppetto is one of them.

Bob, I'm a Wharncliffe fan but not so much on the clip blades (Turkish clip & Muskrats are okay) so for what it is, I'm just fine with the blade combo. Proves once again, you can't please everyone.

Not knocking GEC here. Just musing aloud.

Personally, I like the frame. It's a perfect pocket size, fits the hand well, and is plenty stout. I also like the wharncliffe blade and think it's entirely appropriate for a whittler pattern. If you haven't used a wharnie on a daily basis, you owe it to yourself to try one. They are a great all around blade and have a very sharp point (for diggin' out splinters), but not worth a crap to skin a squirrel. JMHO

It reminds me of a Case 55 pattern I like it

Boy, Bob. I think maybe we ought to leave that one alone.

For me, the Wharncliffe blades is more of a visual thing than it is a practical thing.

I'm hoping the stout frame offsets the diminutive size,tad small for my liking but I'll have to get one in hand to see.....

I looked at that Proto real hard Paul,just couldn't spring for the bucks,glad you got it though,its a beauty my friend

I kept looking and finally found a serialized one.

I lifted the following from the Old Hundred blog:

"I will be receiving more of the #57 Geppetto Whittlers this afternoon. I'm expecting to receive Burnt Stag,Cocobolo Wood,and at least one Primitive Bone. There was some kind of problem at the Factory,so,of a planned run of 35 Primitive Bone knives,they actually ended up with 21 knives. I get one of these."

That quote is about one week old and I'm sure he's sold the one knife he was allocated.

I bought mine from another distributor.

I will be listing a PB Geppetto in my store later today if anyone is looking for one. It's no. 21 and it's a beaut! Also have some in toasted stag and cocobolo and will be receiving a few more next week in red stag.

Their like women and screwdrivers, not all of them fit all the time. So sometimes I like a little wider body and sometimes a little thinner, just depends on the women, err, knife.

I belive it's a #56 Jack pattern flipped around, (so …. #57; same as the #25 and then the #26 sleeveboard ...)

Does take a little gettin' used to. But I can be flexible.
