Welcome to AAPK. Clean up your act and reign in the "attitude" or you won't be here long. I promise.
You recieved a perfectly legitimate response to your question and you responded with venom. We don't opperate that way around here and you won't either if you stay here.

Freedom of speech is allowed on AAPK, freedom of attitude is NOT allowed.
If you cannot express your questions and interact with other members without malice, bitterness and/or name calling you are cordially invited to leave AAPK and join another of the forums that tolerate such discourteous behavior.

I agree with this totally.
To just repeat what's in the guys headline is smarmy and smartass. It's also hard to know if boredom was saying that last part tongue in cheek, when your reading print instead of hearing the words.I don't know either of these folks, and I have no iron in this fire, but maybe edit the smartass off the post next time and a private message to the offender might be better? That said, I think Phil and Orvet do a fine job here, and I just wanted to point out a different viewpoint.

I kinda think that Boredomkills question was legit, and that it certainly was not the first time that a question was ever posted like that. The other questions like that received answers from a complete description of the knife to an "I don't know, but someone will be along shortly with the answer". I think we could have been a little more cordial to a new poster.
Classic Case, thanks, I learned a new word - smarmy: 1.Falsely earnest, smug, or ingratiating

I agree with Phil and Dale. This place is a very cool place but there has to be some sense of apropriate behavior. Swearing at another member or name calling is not cool.
Vieu,
a few things that I would like to use my free speech to discuss. First, the interaction you had with me the other day and the names you called me meant to anger me simply because you didnt agree with my opinion. Second, earlier today you posted a tasteless thread that had no purpose but to instigate trouble aimed towards the members here that collect Chinese knives simply because you dont like it. There are some members that like and collect them and reguardless if you do or not its those members right to collect whatever they want without having to read your post that is just plain just rude and meant to upset them. A lot of us dont collect them, myself included but I have respect for the members that do. Third, tonight you make another tasteless and useless comment about Phils post when he was just doing his job, and for what reason??? These things serve no other purpose than to insite trouble amoung members. I am begining to think that your main goal here is to start trouble and be an instigator. Thats how I happen to read you loud and clear!!

I did not say I didn't agree with Orvet and Phil. There is no place here for disrespecting others. I simply suggested another possible way to handle it.If my very first post I had rec'd this answer, I would have been a little pissed off too.How many of these knives were made? Were they made for any particular event? When were these knives made? I have no idea, but this might have been more helpful than repeating the Header. Maybe next week I have a knife I need answers for, and boredom knew the answer,..now because of this experience, he doesn't return.I'm not defending the cursing,I'm just saying the people who troll the forums, trying to elicit these responses, are just as guilty.

This makes twice in a week that i have seen new comers questions answered in this manner. Once was about pricing and now this. I would like to suggest if your going to answer a question ,please do it in a educated and respectful manner on the subject. You don't have to answer the questions if it bothers you. Just my 2cents.

Holly Molly! Its been a while since ive been able to sit at a computer, and this is the first thread I have read in over 2 months.
The Knife (to me) looks like its a copperlock or trapperlock with composit scales, I have no idea how to date the knife from the pic.
I sincerely hope the more I read, the better the knife lover/comredery gets! Life is waaaay too short guys..

To Boredom kills,
1st :

to AAPK,
While I have no specific information on your knife, you may want to post some additional pictures showing the tang stamps, if any, full length of the knife, open and closed .... just place it next to a ruler or tape measure.
More than likely the knife in question was " adjusted " .... kkk figure added by a second party and not the original manufacturer. JMO on this.
In some circles it would be considered a collectors piece in other areas not due to the political correctness or should i say non political correctness of the knife. Indeed the KKK was a part of American history.
Feel free to repost and I'm sure someone with more knowledge than I will offer some insight.

Here's a little Buck Creek history lesson taken from a post on another thread here at AAPK.
______________________________________________________________________________
Millard Burns of Burns &Company of London Kentucky started importing knives in 1968,knives were made to Burns specifacations by the Heinrick Kaufmann & Sohnne Co. of Soligen Germany until 1985.Taylor and Frost were in on later knives.

many times i can't resist giving a smartass answer to a question just for fun or whatever. it was funny. at work i talk to 1000 people a day. then i cry like a baby about the use of the word ugly on this website. talking to people you don't know and can't see is a bit different.

just my 2 cents. i'm a nobody really. just ignore me. i should be banned from here. i do have a big bunch of knives though. i might sell them and start a pez collection
