How are second generation knifes regarded. vs first generation?

I will qualify this by saying this is just my opinion. The 1st generation knives are far superior in most cases. The 2nd generations were supposedly put together with old parts, however in most all cases the tang stamps are different. This applies to blades with older dates also. The blades sometimes appear inferior also as does the fit and finish. Most were produced in greater quantities than the books would have you believe. Some are of good quality. I don't believe the quality control was as good after Charlie Dorton stopped overseeing it. Bulldog is a brand that takes a lot of experience to really tell what you have. When you have an old original 1st generation knife, you have a really nice knife.
