GEC Bargains Scarce?

I am new to GECs, but not new to knives. I have been very impressed by the looks of GECs, the high praise I read, the variety of styles and scales, and the loyal fans. I've only acquired one so far, but have been enjoying it very much.

My knife budget is pretty modest, though, and so I'm always looking for a good buy, and these seem pretty scarce when it comes to GECs. With other knives, it is usually possible to find good deals through a combination of the trade forums, negotiating with or "specials" from dealers, or the occasional score on ebay. With GECs, not many show up on the trade forums (maybe because owners hate to part with them!), and prices on ebay, that I've seen anyway, are often even higher than at the dealers.

As for the dealers, they seem very firm on their GEC prices, and "specials", or even a little light negotiating, are just not going to happen. One dealer commented that GEC sets the prices and the dealers have little room for discounts.

Maybe as a new guy, I'm just ignorant of some avenues to getting a good GEC deal that everyone else knows. So, if someone would be kind enough to clue me in, I'd be very grateful. A new toy, errr...I mean tool, is much more fun when you got a good deal on it! :D

Thanks,

Andrew

Andrew check prices on EDC stock that some of the dist. have, likely as good a "deal" as your going to find on factory fresh GEC's,somewhat limited choices but thats about your best option imho. Best of luck to ya bro..........

Thanks, Earl. Yes, I have come across some of the GEC EDCs, which have some minor cosmetic defect, IIRC, and they do have a somewhat lower price. Thanks for reminding me of that.
