All About Pocket Knives

I wasn't sure which topic to put this in. This cobbled together mess is a fake so bad even I can spot it a mile away.

Let's start with the handle which has been stuck on what is probably an original post war Fairbairn-Sykes. While there were a couple of variations (and over the years, there were plenty of variations of the F-S knives) during WWII which had wood handles and are fairly rare, this handle never came close to an F-S until someone mated it to this blade long after the war was over. The bale is a comical addition to this farce.

The cross guard is stamped Sheffield England. NONE of the original WWII F-S knives had the word Sheffield stamped on them and England was only stamped on the knives and sheaths of the knives sent to the U.S. after the war was over. The William Rogers I Cut My Way stamp is another dead give away amongst many.

The handle(which I believe is referred to a a Thistle shape)is probably worth more than the knife.I have a couple of knives with this style of handle;one of which is a Russell made for Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co of Boston.It was a popular handle style from about 1900 to the 1930's.
