As I am sure most of you have seen that this felt sold. What do you boys think of this rare piece. I sold a few to some dealers and the dealers were just thrilled to death. Let me know your thoughts. bigden

If it's vintage/period and if you're a Case man, it is a have to have, at nearly any cost.

With the point of manufacturing being " Little Valley, NY " ....... If I'm guessing right .... the Tested XX should not be on any " original " material from the Little Valley era .
Okay, was I right ? Or am I way off base ?

look at what it "IS" not what it says,
ever seen one before?
what was it purpose if it was real?
why on felt?
were others made this way?
think about the time period this was supposedly made in!
I would like to see it up close before ever thinking it was real.
My gut reaction, "and that's usually right" NOT OLD
OK, now read what it says, "just like you should do with a knife"
read the tang stamp LAST!!!!!!!!

I once had a GENUINE STETSON countertop pad/felt. It was about 10" X 20" ..
It had a sewn border around it and was REAL THICK..
Similar to a thick velour door mat. Note the one in this listing is as I mentioned.

Well boys I just wanted to hear your reactions on the felt. Yes I had more than one. These came from Little Valley NY and from the man who had the Case Bros button and so much more. I sold one felt to Brad Wood who wrote the (straight knife) section in Sargents. He was very happy. If I mentioned the othere you would all know him. They are 100% real as the wax paper is intact and I have had this felt through several Case dealers hands. Also to Case. I was very happy to find one as I have never seen any either. The man I purchased these fro had no idea what they were. I have alot more Case Bro stuff to come (super rare) Thanks for looking boys. bigden Dennis

I was speaking to a friend who lives in Cattaraugus last night and he told me he just bought a felt like this!!! He also mentioned that he got it from a man, a logger, that had 2 more in different colors. Seems odd but then stuff comes out of the woodwork when times are tight and people need cash. I am still not sure what David is saying but I think his opinion is that it is not the real deal. I have 2 cutlery felts an Ulster and a W.Bingham's which is advertising Walden knives. They are counter felts that were used on a counter when showing knives to people looking to buy a knife.
Dennis, I will be seeing you tomorrow at the show and I will bring my Ulster felt and would like to see the other Case Brothers LV items you have.
David, it does seem odd that they are coming out at the same time however. You posted awhile ago a Union Cutlery painted wood sign that you picked up. I think that ending thoughts on the sign were that it was made in I think Taiwan. I am not sure about that because I bought one on my last trip to Olean to pick up some of the Cattaraugus Cutlery items. The man I bought it from said that be bought a few of them from an old sign company that had them in storage for years. Mine does not say Taiwan on it. I will bring that to the show so that whoever goes can look it over also.
See you all at the show and I wish you were going David, Mike

I respectfully stand behind my earlier comments. I have been burned as many of you have and it just seems to easy to buy into it. I don't mind being proved wrong though. To be honest. I hope I am! But my gut says no

I recently came across one of these myself that came out of Little Valley. I believe the originals should be rectangular, not square. But, I do not have anything original at the factory to compare to, so as far as knowing if it is the genuine article....I can't say.

The felt material does not look like anything I have seen on these old counter felts.
This stuff looks like Astro-Turf
Why are so many surfacing all at the same time?
