Great forum. I picked this up this weekend at a flea market. I am open to any information. I look forward to any replies.

Looks like that is a counterfeit Case knife

Hope you didn't pay to much for it, it is a fake. Welcome to the board this is a great place to learn about pocket knives.

Luckily, I paid next to nothing for it.... It proves once again to be wary of "to good to be true". I will never place it next to any of my real knives. I have an amberbone copperlock and medium stockman (Case). Thank you for the information.

That "Knife" can now be found at the bottom of Swartz Creek. I was able, thanks to the information on this web page verify with a great deal of certainty that my two favorite knives are genuine.

Swartz Creek is none the better for the addition of the knife. It looked like a decent folder to me.
It may have been a fake Case, but it looked like a real knife.

Rather than throwing the knife in Swartz Creek, I would have ground out the tang stamps and put it in my EDC rotation.

Welcome to the site. ......I really like your Congress (even though its fake)....would you be interested in trading it ?

I read these threads and try to learn from them. I have hoarded pocket knives for a few years but lack the knowledge to be considered a collector. What is it about this Case XX that lets you know it's a fake. Wouldn't it be too expensive or time consuming to switch out blades or handles in order to make a fake (unless it sold for over a hundred dollars). I think it would be interesting to have a collection of some of the better fakes (or good pictures of them) to use as a learning tool. Right now, I'd be affraid to pay more than $10 for a knife for fear it was a fake. But I"ll learn. Thanks Al

Almy...The jigging pattern on the bone handles is the most obvious clue that its wrong to me.
