I wrote him too. Here is his reply:

Thanks. I bought it and a couple of other things at an antique store about 40 miles from my house. You can bet I will be paying them another visit this weekend. I questioned the china part of it and he said they have been making things in China forever. Thanks for letting me know. I removed it from ebay. Brian

if what he says is true, i wonder how much he forked over. maybe he better get over there with a baseball bat in hand too.

Remember the old used car salesman's credo:"There is an a** for every seat." Sort of a variation on the old P.T.Barnum quite:"There's a sucker born every minute."

Looked at some of his other items;the Solido cars seem to be reasonably priced but the secondary market for model cars is kind of soft.I've picked up some really nice Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint 1/24th scale cars that retailed for around $140 for $15 to $25 recently that were still in the original boxes.

With forums such as this it isn't difficult to do a little research before setting down nearly two hundred dollars for a knife. Before the Internet became commonplace, research was vastly more difficult. You had to have(or have access to)a rather large print library of knife books to find out anything at all.I know my collection would be much larger if I hadn't purchased all the knife periodicals and books I now own.But in the long run I guess it was worth it.

some one must have wrote to him about this knife. he replied to my message about the rough rider, but mistakenly said i should investigate my statements before saying anything about his novelty knife. he thought i sent him an email about his.
i know his is roy rogers, but this one looks more realistic for aging...his askin price, $195 plus shipping

That knife may even be a repro ::shrug:: Looks awfully nice to be 1960's. "This was mine as a kid" same statement he used in the RR listing.

gathering from what he wrote me about the email sent to him on his novelty, he was really pissed. he stands behind the authenticity of this knife..but i will add, that when i emailed him back that it wasn't me who wrote about the novelty but the rr. he did apologize to me.

I still think his Roy Rogers is a repro.

To quote Clark Griswold:

"I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey s... he is!"

I think that pretty much sums up what type of person does this. :x
