New from Ebay

Here's a new one I bought yesterday on Ebay. WWII Camillus Army Air Corps Utility Knife. Don't have it in hand yet but am eager to get it. Seller says that the main blade has a weak snap on closing. Hopefully a drop of oil will do it some good. If not it is still an awfully nice knife. What do you think?

What do I think? I think it's an awfully nice knife and I'm envious as hell. I think I may have bid on that. Are you sure you won the auction? 8)

Don't think you bid Jerry, I was the only bidder. I guess I'm just a sucker for $40 knives. ::facepalm::

I was just jerkin' your chain. IMO, $40 is a hair of a good deal.

The whole thing is just neat. Long pulls, swedge, bone handles, steel bolsters (?).

Can't wait to get this puppy in my hands. Seems every time I buy something that I really want, there's a holiday involved and it takes longer to ship/get.

By the way, if anyone's interested, I used Photobug to post pictures while our picture posting is down.

I use the space my ISP furnishes with my account. I don't remember how much but most ISP's furnish some online storage with each account.

Edit: Went and checked. 2 GB free with broadband subscription

Nice knife Murph--i seen that one the other morning and saved it--Hope it looks good as the pic's the guy didn't show any straight shots of it every shot was at an angle if i remember right

You are correct, no straight on shots, but even the angle shots were pretty disclosing. Except for the sunken spring all else looked good, just can't tell which blade that spring is on. The knife looks to have been cleaned, but not overly cleaned. Looks like the handles and bolsters got most of the cleaning. The blades look to be full and the kick is pretty tall so don't know why the main blade would have weak snap. Would the sunken spring cause that?

Looks like the main and the pen backsprings are both worn down and sunk a bit.
Purdy though!

Looking at the pic in the 1946 Camillus catalog, the blades look full, of course you can be deceived by pictures.

Since you've already got photos stored at photobucket, you can post here by placing you cursor on the pic, a drop down menu will appear, go down to the last selection, image code and left click, you will get a very quick and short message "saved". Come back to AAPK and post by right clicking and paste.

I said all that and forgot to say this: Those are cool knives, I've been watching them for a while now, just never dropped the hammer. Is your's marked Coast Guard Approved on the back?
