Nickel Silver Bolsters vs Steel

Am I correct in saying you can tell the difference by using a magnet? Steel - magnet sticks, nickel silver - magnet doesn't stick???

Steel rusts,,nickel silver isnt supposed too.
I dont really know if a magnet sticks to nickel silver or not,,but its going to pull towards the backsprings and blades anyway.

When in doubt I usually thump the bolster
in question with fingernail in same manner
that gramma used to thump our ears.
Steel bolster makes a plack plack sound while
the nickel silver makes more of a blick blick.

you sure its not a pleck and a plick..thats what i seem to be getting
you can always drop them from your upper deck onto the paved driveway and the one that doesnt dent is steel
