All About Pocket Knives

about 15 years ago i sold a e.c. simmons brown bone dogleg advertising UNCLE SAMS PLUG chewing tobacco on the shield. it was about a 3 1/2 inches long and was close to mint and was sweeeeeeeeeetttttt!

I can't remember in exact detail, but when I was in my teens many moons ago, I had a handful of knives in a bag that I accidently threw out while cleaning my room. I believe I had a Camillus PSK, a Russell Grohmann type skinner, a couple older Remington folders, and some type of Bowie.

Needless to say, I am a little more careful now...

Several years ago I let greed get the best of me and sold a Union Razor Co. bone handled whittler. It was just a solid old knife, I regretted it the second it was gone. Lesson don't be hastey.

I had a Schrade 2 blade auto with engraved Silver handles, mint. I traded it at a knife show for 5 cheapo switchblades that were worth about $5.00 each. I could kick myself.

My carbon steel schrade cut co melon tester with rough black, the only one I've seen like it. Not mint, but dang I loved that knife and I still kick myself for putting it up the bay.

I had a Gerber belt buckle folder. It was a wood grain buckle with the stainless blade running diagonally across the center. It was very cool.. ..IMO. An associate who had helped me numerous times also thought it was very sharp... ...er, ah, cool... ...so I gave it to him. I guess it was a fair tradeoff...but I still miss the knife. Maybe that's why I don't wear belts anymore?????

When I was a kid in Veracruz, Mexico around 1960, my grandmother had a stag handled German folding hunter, lockback with stainless blades and fancy bolsters, I don't remember the brand, I believe it was bought at Casa Boker in Mexico City but was not labeled Boker, probably made by them though.

When I finished college in the USA and came back to Mexico in 1974, grandma gave me her knife, it was a bit pitted (The environment near the coast does that to knives, even if they are stainless), the stag had shrunk somewhat and one liner was bent (must have hit something hard), I fixed it the best I could and carried it for a while... until one day it just wasn't there, must have fallen from my pocket, I almost cried, I really appreciated that knife. I have since bought a similar Boker, but it is not the same of course.

I had a Winchester 1950 model with beautiful stag handles. Sold it to a friend, but wish I would have kept it.

eye brand melon tester i got in 1965. sold it to buy a case knife i wanted in 2001.

I was 12 years old and got a $10.00 bill for Christmas in a card. I went down to the local Western Auto Hardware store and got a 9 1/2 inch Case sheath knife with leather wrapped handle. This was in 69-70. Affter the service,about 1979, I lost that knife hunting in McKean County Pa. I still have the sheath.

An old Barlow. I didn't know anything about knives at the time, but if memory serves it had black sawcut handles, probably delrin but maybe bone. Might of been a Schrade, but the memory is not that clear. Bottom line, it was my dad's - and a knife he used A LOT. He carried a small stockman in his pocket at all times, but the Barlow was his knife of choice for real cutting.
I kept it after he died when I was 19, and used it a fair amount myself. But 20 years and 4 moves later, I don't know when the hell I lost the thing.
While my wife thinks I'm nuts, I suspect that at least some of you will understand and believe me when I say I miss that damn knife every day.

I had a stag handled Jimmie Lile drop point hunter,Dan Dennehy drop point hunter,Case Grizzly,Viet Nam era M-16 bayonet all traded away.
Countless other pocket knives,lost.Oh well,no use looking back.
